Upon graduating from college, my first job was in the Office of Undergraduate Admissions at Washington University in St. Louis, Go Bears! Our prospective students had amazing qualifications. The only problem: there were not enough spots for the seemingly endless pile of qualified applicants. During that time, I worked with students to help them navigate the application process and I learned how colleges evaluate applicants. It was an eye-opening experience.
That experience inspired me to pursue and earn my M.Ed. in Counselor Education at Widener University. Go Pride! There, I worked as a Teaching Assistant and I managed the Educational Technology Lab. Halfway through the Program we relocated to Raleigh, NC for my Husband’s work, where I completed my Program requirements at N.C. State. Go Wolfpack!
In 2007, we relocated to the Bay Area. After the transition, I spent the next decade engaged as an advocate for primary and secondary students with learning differences. Students requiring special accommodations often benefit from an advisor to help them fully access their educational opportunities. This is also true for many college-going students too.
In 2018, I returned my focus to helping high school students navigate the college admissions process, and I completed a postgraduate-level Professional Program in College Admissions Counseling at UC Berkeley. Go Bears!
These days, I apply an individualized approach to helping students find the right fit for college. Although I work with students of all interests, backgrounds and abilities, my experience in special-need advocacy has provided me an edge in finding unique fits for unique students. It is important that students fully explore what they want and expect to achieve from their college experience and understand the various steps to take to get there. Above all, I want my students to be happy and successful in their college placements and beyond.
From undecided students, to STEM-focused future engineers, to transfer students, to students with anxiety and other special considerations; I can help you find the program and school where you can work to become your best self.
Go U!
